A tub and shower replacement in West Lafayette, done to get a leaking tile shower out of the house before it went on the market.

The old shower had been leaking long enough to take the floor with it. Once the tile and the pan came out, most of the subfloor under them had to come out too, which is the part nobody budgets for and the reason a slow shower leak is worth chasing early.

The framing was opened up, the supply lines reworked, and new sheathing laid and glued across the whole footprint before anything went back in. The replacement is a white Sterling tub and shower unit with molded corner shelves at both ends, fitted with matte black trim, a square shower head and a black tub spout. Walls above went charcoal, and high quality glue down vinyl plank in a soft gray runs through the room.

The white subway tile wainscoting with its black pencil liner was existing and stayed. Working around it rather than through it is what kept this a replacement instead of a gut, and the charcoal paint above it was chosen to suit tile that was already there.

For a house going up for sale, this is the version of the job that matters. The leak is gone, the floor under it is new, and the room reads as finished rather than repaired.
